THE HARVEST-TO-HANDOFF FIELDBOOK / Pack a better brief

Give each packaging group a traceable description.

A practical record helps the next operation identify which container group the brief describes.

Use the supplier’s identifiers

Keep the design reference and any supplied lot or batch information with your packaging records. Record receipt date, count and the intended operation. Avoid inventing a certification or grade from a local nickname.

Mark unlike groups clearly

Separate different designs, dimensions, component sets or condition groups. Tell the receiver which records apply to each. A single total can hide differences that affect assembly and acceptance.

Keep the handoff record current

Update counts and document changes before dispatch. Use the receiver’s agreed identification and reporting process. This notebook helps organize the conversation; it does not replace your operation’s required traceability system.
