THE HARVEST-TO-HANDOFF FIELDBOOK / Follow the harvest

A peak week needs visible assumptions.

Packaging planning becomes clearer when a normal day, a peak day and a forecast change are kept separate.

Write down the demand basis

Use measured history where available and label forecast values. Record daily counts, operating days and the planned container count. Do not present an illustrative calculator result as a confirmed harvest.

Ask about supply timing

Confirm supplier availability, order windows, storage and assembly requirements. Discuss how a changed forecast affects the next delivery. Avoid assuming an enquiry reserves packaging or guarantees a collection.

Track what actually happened

Record containers received, used, damaged and remaining. Compare the results with the original assumptions. That history is more useful for the following peak than an undocumented safety margin.
